9/2/2025

Prairie State Bank & Trust is excited to announce that Jerry Boster is stepping into a new role as Commercial Lender serving the Southern Virden and Girard region. Many in the community already know Jerry from his years as a trusted Mortgage Lender in the Springfield area, and now he’s bringing his experience, customer-first approach, and passion for helping people to businesses and families closer to home.

A Career Built on Relationships

Jerry’s journey into banking began in the early 2000s after running a car dealership and working in real estate in the Girard area. In 2005, he transitioned into lending, specializing in residential mortgages, and never looked back. Since then, he has helped thousands of customers achieve their dreams of homeownership, guided them through improvements, and celebrated with them at closings.

He joined Prairie State Bank & Trust in 2017 and quickly found it to be the perfect fit. When the opportunity arose to return to his roots in the Virden/Girard area, Jerry jumped at the chance. “I think I’ve seen a vast variety of circumstances and customers throughout the years,” Jerry shared. “It’s not always about knowing every detail of lending, but about knowing your customers, understanding their needs, and finding the right solution.”

Bringing Value to Local Businesses and Agriculture

In his new role, Jerry will be focusing on commercial and agricultural lending while also ensuring that deposit customers receive the excellent service they expect from Prairie State Bank & Trust. His days will be split between visiting farms and businesses in the community, working alongside customers in the bank, and connecting people with the right resources to achieve their goals.

Jerry sees this as an opportunity not only to provide financial solutions but also to be a partner in the growth and success of the region. “I’m most excited about reconnecting with people I haven’t seen in the last 20 years, learning about their businesses, and figuring out how we can help them grow,” he said.

A Familiar Face with Deep Local Roots

Outside of work, Jerry and his wife Jennifer enjoy camping trips, traveling to warm destinations, and spending time with their grandson. He’s also passionate about restoring classic cars—currently tinkering with a 1965 Mustang convertible and a 1978 Ford Ranchero. If you spot him around town, don’t be surprised if he mentions a stop at DiCarlo’s Pizza or Whirl-a-Whip—two of his local favorites.

Looking Ahead

As Jerry steps into his new role, he’s focused on supporting businesses and farmers in navigating both opportunities and challenges, helping them thrive in today’s market. His proven track record, approachable style, and dedication to building long-lasting relationships make him an incredible asset to the community.
