Bank marks 34 years of helping area kids

"Since 1989 Prairie State Bank & Trust has worked to help area children who are less fortunate than most, experience a delightful Christmas.

This year the bank, with the generosity of their customers and community members, will help out the families of 125 area children.  All the “Angels” are living in Virden and Thayer and attend North Mac school district.  They range in age from infant to High School.  Prairie State Bank & Trust assists the families of Virden and Thayer while working closely with the volunteers of Santa’s Workshop which serves Girard and Nilwood residents.

The public is invited to come into the Virden main bank, or through the Virden drive-up location, and choose an “Angel” off the Christmas tree.  Included on the tag are the child’s age, gender, sizes, and a short toy wish list.  Participants may purchase one or more gifts for their chosen angel.  The only requirement is that everything should be gift wrapped or bundled into one package with the angel tag attached.  All gifts need to be returned to the main bank by Friday, December 15th, for distribution the following week.

Prairie State Bank & Trust invites all their customers and friends to join them in helping to brighten the Christmas of area children and their families."
